Ryland Ash

Ryland will be examining the changes incorporated into the 2016 Editions of the JCT suite of contracts with his main focus being on the Design & Build family highlighting the new features and statutory obligations.

Ryland is dual qualified Barrister/Solicitor-Advocate (Higher Rights) with has over 10 years of legal experience in the construction industry and is Managing Partner now Silver Shemmings Ash LLP. Highly experienced, both as a party representative and advocate in all forms of dispute resolution, he has acted on a wide variety of construction, building, rail and civil engineering projects which involve the investigation, management and successful resolution of contractual and commercial disputes.

Ryland advises clients on issues that can impact upon a project through its lifecycle from pre-contract to post-completion, including strategic and dispute avoidance advice during the engineering and construction process. He has significant experience in the vetting, drafting and negotiation of a range of construction and engineering contracts (including the JCT and NEC suite of contracts) and in the drafting and reviewing of main contracts, sub-contracts, bonds, guarantees and collateral warranties.
