Two talks with an engineering theme:

The first of these 'Grounds for Dispute' is intended as a rough guide as to why the majority of construction difficulties are related to ground conditions and is presented by Tony Bracegirdle.

Tony is a senior partner of the Geotechnical Consulting Group in London where has been since 1983.  Prior to this he was involved with special projects and hydropower design and construction in New Zealand.  Tony is a former Chairman of the British Geotechnical Association, Fellow of ICE and since 2007 has been involved with dispute resolution and providing expert evidence on geotechnical matters.

The second talk 'Engineers' Liability' is a more general discussion of professional liability in context with some heart-stopping examples presented by David Gwillim.

David is a Solicitor-Advocate with over 35 years' experience in advising the construction and engineering industry at home and abroad on procurement, contract drafting, warranties and bonds, insurance, Health & Safety as well as dispute resolution, including arbitration, mediation, adjudication, expert determination and complex litigation proceedings in Court and before professional disciplinary bodies such as ARB and RIBA.  David acts for owners, public authorities and private developers, funders, insurers, international and local contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, architects, consulting engineers and quantity surveyors.
